June 2000

June 6th

Everything is a load of bollocks!

Well, work is anyway! I am usually pretty organised and "on top" of things (no double-entendre there) but the place seems to have descended into chaos and is dragging me down! Aaaaggghh - QUICK - someone invite me out to get pissed and have a laugh.

June 15th

Ok well, further to my comments on 6th June - don't all rush at once to invite me out to get pissed and have a laugh!

I have now gone through the "court thing" and am a joint licensee - I am officially a "fit and proper" person!!! Just waiting for the maintenance guy to put my name up over the door now.

Paul and I are off to Disneyland Paris on Monday - not sure if I mentioned it before or not. Paul won the trip in a competition he doesn't remember entering! Can't be bad! We fly from Southampton and have three whole free days there! That's free, with absolutely no charge whichsoever. (You have to be a Victoria Wood fan to laugh at that bit!)

June 22nd  Disneyland Paris

On Monday, we flew from Southampton to Paris. Believe it or not this was my first ever flight - and for my first one I ended up in a thing not much bigger than a minibus with wings! Have to say that I did enjoy the experience - shame I didn't notice the guy sitting behind me until we landed in Paris - he was well cute and we spent most of the time going through baggage claim exchanging glances in the way that only gay men do! Paul liked him too! If you are reading this and you were on an Air "Chance" flight that day then get in touch! :-)

We got to the hotel at Disneyland by about 2pm - it was a great hotel - the Newport Bay Club. The nice bit about it being Disney was that everyone spoke English - well, except for some dumb blonde in the McDonald's restaurant nearby and the stewardess on the return flight who, when serving Paul some orange juice asked "would you like some glass in that sir?"

We then spent the next three days being HUGE kids! Of course, we "did" all the rides - most, such as "Space Mountain" were brilliant, but there were some really DIRE ones as well. Just as well there were virtually no queues - I would have been well pissed off if I had queued for hours for some of the crappier ones!

The weather was great - 30ºC and clear blue sky. Spent some time in and around the hotel pool starting on the tan which was great too. Dinner in Planet Hollywood both nights... is it not possible to escape the Euro 2000 football anywhere?!

The most shocking and upsetting event of the holiday occurred on Wednesday. First, you have to understand that my hair is kind of brushed forward and then spiked up at the front. This is achieved through spiking the whole lot up with gel (which looks a total state) letting it dry for a bit and then brushing most of it, except the front, down. You also need to understand that this can take ages to get "just right" - which is how I like it to be. Anyway... back to the plot. We had left the room, checked out in a packed reception and were just handing in our luggage when Paul looked up and exclaimed (with a shocked and slightly scared look on his face) "Your hair!!!!". I had forgotten to do the brushing flat bit and had been walking through the hotel looking like I had just electrocuted myself!  Urgent action was called for - I grabbed the case back from the shocked luggage guy - dug deep for the hairbrush and ran back through reception to find a quiet corner to sort out the catastrophe and gather my composure!

Despite that however, it was a great trip and a good "warm up" for our trip to Florida in November.
