June 2nd  Jubilee Weekend

Jubillee Logo

Long Bank Holiday weekend and, so far, the weather has been great! Makes a change! Have had Paul's mum down to stay this weekend which has been nice. Have been a bit down again the last few days so went out and treated myself today - bought a new flat screen monitor - 17" (ok so size IS important to me! LOL) Am really pleased with it - got it on "undersale" at John Lewis, so not only did I get my discount but a £2 bonus for notifying them it was cheaper elsewhere!

I am going up to London on Tuesday to watch some of the Jubilee parades - I can't wait - I love all the pageantry - wish I had got tickets to the concerts at the Palace.

June 4th Jubilee Weekend continues...

As planned, we went up to London for the Jubilee celebrations today and had a great time. We were about a quarter of the way up The Mall - we got there about 8am to get our "spot". The parades were great and we got a good look at the Queen as she went past in her carriage. We were right opposite one of the big TV screens they had put up in the Mall so were able to watch everything on there too - including Cherie Blair yawning her way through the church service - silly cow!

After being on our feet and virtually unable to move in the crowd for 10 hours, we managed to get ourselves into action to move down the Mall to the Palace Gates to see the flypast and balcony appearances. We were only about 20 metres from the railings so had an excellent view - especially using the zoom on dad's video camera - got some good shots of the Queen and the Royal Family. I will post some pictures on here shortly.

What with the Jubilee celebrations and the World Cup I think this extra-long Bank Holiday was brilliant - can we do it again?!

June 11th Off to the theatre... again

Went up to the Mayflower in Southampton tonight to see Jane McDonald - yes you did read it right!  Although she may not be the latest chart topper, I really enjoy her music. I think we may have been amongst the youngest in the audience and it was a little strange that we were the only ones we could see that were singing along to "It's Raining Men"! Afterwards, we waited at the front of the theatre to get her autograph - she was really nice - chatted to us for quite a while and even remembered that she had met me in the shop when she was in Bournemouth two years ago! Impressive!
